PinnacleCare Gives “Circle of Care” Membership to Honor Jim MacLaren |
On November 6 at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases’ annual fundraising gala, PinnacleCare will present a Circle of Care membership to Jim MacLaren, winner of the ESPY Arthur Ashe Courage Award, motivational speaker and advocate for athletes with disabilities. MacLaren, a former college football player at Yale, has survived two near-fatal accidents, the first of which left him without a leg after being hit by a New York City bus at the age of 22. He battled back to become the fastest amputee athlete in the world, racing against and beating able-bodied competition in grueling marathons and Ironman triathlons. Eight years after the first accident he was struck again, this time by a van during a triathlon, and became a partial quadriplegic. Battling back once more, MacLaren has become a motivational speaker. His amazing story and positive, courageous attitude now inspire others to greatness.
Dr. Robin Smith, Co-chairman of the Board of Trustees of NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of NeoStem, Incnotes, “We are grateful to PinnacleCare for giving our remarkable friend the ultimate gift of health.” Newly-introduced this year, Circle of Care provides 360-degree support of individuals with ongoing medical issues, giving the family time and emotional reserves to enjoy their lives.
